Originally released in 2003, Requiem for Abandoned Souls returns as a double-LP reissue, marking the album’s first appearance on vinyl.
Across 9 interlinked tracks, Peter Andersson’s raison d’être shapes an existential passage through desolation, faith and the possibility of inner renewal. Church bells, reverberating drones, metallic textures, discordant chimes, haunting chorals and sub-orchestral movements gather into a dark, immersive sound world.
Sacral and arcane religious undertones run throughout the album. Its track titles can be read individually or together as a poem, tracing a bleak landscape populated by souls abandoned of hope. Yet within the atmosphere of decay and loss, Requiem for Abandoned Souls reveals a striking beauty, a meditation on finding stillness and meaning amid chaos.
This expanded edition pairs the original album with 4 bonus tracks.
