EIDULON
"Idolatriae" CD
(tumorcd33) Malignant Records
With the release of Eidulon’s debut CD
Idolatriae, we at Malignant are pleased to welcome another new project
into the cozy confines of our slowly expanding roster. 7 tracks of
ultra bleak, abstract atmospheres, with sounds and textures that seem
to seep from catacomb walls and come slithering out of subterranean
chambers. Certainly, this can be classified as a dark ambient record,
but at it’s core, it’s more than just that simple classification.
There’s a gritty, more jagged edge here, with tetonic shifts,
deep rumblings, and crackling, climatic squalls buried under a bed
of ghostly reverb and haunting tonal resonance. Fits in nicely with
past Malignant releases such as R|A|A|N's 'The Nacrasti', Heid's 'Arktogaa',
and even Caul's 'Crucible' CD. In elegant 6 panel digipak, with stark
black and white, carefully arranged illustrations inspired by Taschism
and Spatial art.

EXALOT
"Analogue Flowers" CD
(far3) Faria Records
This music is full of feeleings of the 80s. It is very analogue in
soul and throws listeners into the star-shining past, making him forget
about entering the 21t century. The soundscapes are created using
real old pre-PC computers, analogue synthesizers and handmade effect-tracts.
The album has a very special, pleasant enchanting sound, full of inner
light and positive emotions, full of harmonies of stars and romantic
feelings from tha analogue past. Absolutely non commercial music,
without any standards and limits. The release includes conceptual
art covers and few cards with digital pictures by Exalot. You will
have a lot of positive emotions, finding peace and great mood during
the listening of this music.

EXOTOENDO
"Push
Kara" CD
(ATNR 008) Athanor
This is also the second CD of this french project after one on Old
Europa Café. One hour of ambiant ritual music recorded in an
old industrial vat, which has been since destroyed. Push Kara is inspired
by the Tibetan Book of the Dead, however the music is not only an
interpretation of the Bardo-Thödol but is also the reflection
of a reality: the essence expressed in the Bardo. Push Kara express
the 6 states between life/death/rebirth, as explained in the booklet.
Abundant and pure sound (which reflects the atmosphere of the strange
place where it was recorded) with a few voices, percussions, pipes,
violin and singing bowls. Great ritual sounds somewhere between Lustmord
and the Bonpos ritual. Once again, a must have for the dark ambiant/ritual
lovers.

EYELESS
IN GAZA "Summer Salt & Subway Sun" CD
(A-scale033) Ambivalent Scale
Originally, the intention was to put together
a double album, centering around an “escalated excitement with
the idea of cities as new, blank texts – contrasted with the
kind of sense of alienation and loss evoked in such works as J.G.
Ballard’s Concrete Island.” The completed Summer Salt
& Subway Sun works as a kind of survival or synthesis of these
ideas – and also as an illustration of Eyeless In Gaza as ‘studio
animal’, contrasted with their (newly re-discovered) life as
a regularly gigging band. (– The band has been off the road
since the late 80’s, but have recently gigged in Bruxelles,
London, and Athens – with forthcoming gigs in Italy, Iceland
and the U.S.). The album thus neatly encapsulates two key aspects
of the music Eyeless in Gaza are presently creating – offering
a balance of atmos/acoustic material and sprawling, rhythmic/semi-improvised
spidery electric pieces. This has resulted in a heady blend of song
based material juxtaposed with a distinctive brand of kaleidoscopic,
“cityscaping” filmic musics. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it
is the latter, primarily instrumental pieces which gleefully reflect
the band’s recent activity in cinema – in Patrice Chereau’s
controversial Intimacy, and Jim Jarmusch collaborator Glen McQuaid’s
poetic, sub Hammer short, The Resurrection Apprentice. After the plaudits
attributed to the 25th Anniversary release of No Noise compilation
(“They were one of the great bands that emerged (from the) post
punk (period)” – Alan McGee) Eyeless In Gaza continue
to display a characteristic “fierce independence” of style
and attitude – with the release of Summer Salt & Subway
Sun, issued via the band’s own A-Scale label...."
