DARK
WATERS MEMORIES "The Rejuvenation Ballet" CD
(wop42) WOP
The first full-length of Hungarian act DWM.
The album provides a dark ambient soundtrack for an Orphean trip across
the river of forgetting. Inspired by loss and an urge to design a
universal path from the realm of the quick to some destination beyond
the stars. Lavishly layered psychedelic drones and rhythms that conjure
up the stuff of dreams, overflown with irridescent things from the
dawn land.

DAWN
AND DUSK ENTWINED "Septentrion" CD
(cmi178) Cold Meat Industry
Dawn & Dusk Entwined begins the collaboration with CMI with an
album which is most appropriate dedicated to the Nordic world, imaginary,
beauty, not related to the runic current but to the french litterary
notion of "Septentrion". Nature as a living entity, apart
from any human exploitation, or only seen through the respectful eyes
of some simple hosts conscious of their tiny place amidst the timeless
natural cycles and power. It's close to a heathen view of the world
and confers to the old European beliefs and conscience. You will hear
the reflection of the vastness, mysteries, and timelessness of this
universe in a journey through these manifold aspects, and through
the power and beauty of the unique mixture of progressive-industrial,
martial beats, dark ambient, and neo-folk as calls, avoiding usual
cliches. This will undoubtfully appeal to fans of all these styles
alike! A very strong album!

DAWN
AND DUSK ENTWINED "Remergence" CD
(ATNR021) Athanor
Remergence is partly inspired by Otto Rahn's "Luzifers Hofgesind"
and aims to pay tribute to characters and places that still carry
light. With Remergence, Dawn and Dusk Entwined have reached an uncompromising
point, mixing ambient and neoclassical atmospheres with militarian
percussions and the addition of historical and movies samples. With
this mystic opus, DDE pays respect to the core of the ancestral pagan
europe and bring a fresh and bright hope in the scene.

rhythms. "We will live for eternity" are seven tracks, total

DEADWOOD
"Ramblack" CD
(csr104cd) Cold Spring
“Ramblack" is the follow up to Deadwood's
successful 2005 album "8 19". Over the past 3 years this
Swedish artist has been toiling away, creating a new black ambient
/ death noise masterpiece and "Ramblack" is the result.
Cloaked in a more raw and morbid sound then its predecessor, this
album truly changes one's perspective of audial darkness. This analogue
beast of an album layers the tonal prayers of demons and the distorted
cries of angels, sickness and depravity. True Death Electronics. The
soundtrack to your end. "Ramblack" features guest vocals
from Norwegian Black Metal legend Maniac (Skitliv, ex-Mayhem), whose
vocal approach on the song 'Forakt' shows the full range of his capacity.
Truly one of the most sick and twisted pieces of sonic art ever recorded.
Enjoy the disease!

ESSEINTES "Mondo Macabro" CD
(Tumorcd27) Malignant Records
A classic example of what’s old is new! With Mondo Macabro are
compiled all of your favorite des Esseintes vinyl releases since 2000,
remastered them, boosted them to eye popping levels, and if that weren’t
enough, added 3 bonus, unreleased tracks to top it off! 12 tracks
in total, spanning the Muse (2000) and On/Off (2002) 7”s, the
split LP with Magmax (2001), and the split 10” (2001) with Negru
Voda. A great history lesson in the short existence of des Esseintes,
each track on each subsequent release just seems to up the ante, with
one track more crushing than the next…. a steady, doom filled
procession of post-apocalyptic, tribal percussion, deadening, jackhammer
rhythms, and dramatic, suspense filled atmospheres. When Armageddon
hits, rest assured, you’ll have your soundtrack.

DIE
WEISSE ROSE "A Martyrdum Of White Roses" CD
(cmi197) Cold meat Industry
Die Weisse strives towards what Wagner called
”Gesamtkunstwerke” – total works of art. When most
other bands talk about Gesamtkunstwerke, it sounds pretentious. When
Die Weisse Rose do it, it makes sense. Die Weisse Rose also like to
think of their songs as “audiodocumentaries”. Again, such
a seemingly pretentious term makes sense, as Die Weisse Rose’s
art is just as indebted to the History Channel as to Throbbing Gristle.
To bolster Die Weisse Rose’s lineup (which really consists only
of the band’s mastermind, Thomas Bøjden) over the years
the unit has recruited collaborators to its ranks that makes DWR smack
of an Industrial supergroup. From Marco Deplano (Foresta di Ferro),
Gerhard (Allerseelen), Kim Larsen (Of the Wand and the Moon) to name
but a few. In return, Thomas Bøjden has returned the favour
and played with a who’s who of of the Industrial and Neofolk
underground, from well-established outfits like Rome, Blood Axis and
Foresta Di Ferro to up-and-coming Austrian neofolk band Klammheim.
Now, Die Weisse Rose are for the first time available on record. If
you fear that we have another ”martial” clone band on
our hands, prepare to be pleasantly surprised. The music is painstakingly
crafted and orchestrated to perfection to include electronic elements,
field recordings and real instruments, and its creative merits really
stand out in an underground culture where bands of far lesser talents
than Die Weisse Rose would release three albums in the time Die Weisse
Rose have patiently worked on theirs.

DIFFERENT
STATE & SIGILL "Spazmatick spell" CD
(zohar002) Zoharum
This album, dedicated to A.O. Spare include
60 minutes of pure magic[k]al sounds conceived by two projec[k]ts:
Different State and Sigill. Each of them represents a slightly different
approach, although they are both connected by mystic[k]al, alc[k]emical,
ritual character.
Marchoff (Different State) describes his music as alchembient. This
sums his work up perfectly. It’s a mix of illbient a bit in
the vein of Coil or Psychic TV, a great deal of alchemical incantations
and moans, there’s a lot of elements so characteristic for Different
State. In conciving the following material, Marchoff was aided by
Laura Marchoff (angelic[k] voice, custom made generator A-23), Tom
Westbum (clarinet, sax, alto sax, trumpet) and Janusz Sokolnicki (tube
AMP, lead guitar). Sigill is a project consisting of brat salo and
Nantur-a duo creating electronic lunar spaces and astral soundscapes
using samples and ancient instruments. The material was conceived
during winter solstice 2006.
The disc is packaged in a deluxe 3-panel digipak.

DISKREPANT
"33-12" CD
(fds10) Fin de siècle Media
While the first outing from Diskrepant, the "Folie à Deux"
split CD with des Esseintes [FDS 04], had Per Åhlund delving
into the realms of ear-shredding noise, the new album points in another,
less visceral direction. "33-12" deals with the spirituality
- not to be confused with religiosity - of Man. The sparse electronics
are augmented by gongs, bells and the occasional chanting, lending
a feeling of a sacred Tibetan ceremony performed in a high tech studio.
With "33-12" Diskrepant have made an album with a timeless,
yet modern feel, that is bound to appeal to fans of the monotonous
drone excursions of Mirror and Organum, as well as those with fond
memories of the ritual / industrial synthesis of Zero Kama.

DONIS
"Alexandria" CD
Autarkeia
DONIS (tribute in Prussian) - expands the space of creative quests
with every new album until it transgresses this single regular cultural
medium - music related with the tradition of Lithuanian ethnos, which
he is the expert of. This time the artist has embarked on a new challenging
journey, that is, to compose music revealing the unknown spirit of
antiquity.
His efforts have resulted in Alexandreia album that serves as a deep,
pure and dreamy manifest to the ancient times. Tranquil, transparent
and persuasive ambient stream prevails in the tracks. The archaic
winds of different nations tastefully add to it in some of the tracks.
These include hornpipe, bagpipes, mesmerising rhythms of tabor and
mystifying bells. Soft and velvety voice of vocalist Alwyda, who has
created the key vein of the album, opens the idealised femininity
of the antiquity and conveys emotionally-charged world vision of genius
Konstantin Kavafi where the Mediterranean past and present, the East
and the West, the Greeks and the barbarians meet in the catharsis
of profound sadness and wisdom, where the fall of civilisation witnessed
in the vanishing cultural heritage is revealed. The Greek poetry recited
in an enchanting voice and the ambient melting the words with elemental
force embrace
the audience who do not even know the archaic language. Alexandreia
will not disappoint the lovers of Dead Can Dance, Kameras 48, Raison
D’etre music, either. Album lasts for 50 min. 13 sec. Limited
edition 500 copies.

DUAL"Caste"
CD
(CEE01) CEE
Add dual to the list of ambient guitar explorationists...
and put the name high upon that list, particularly if you're into
a dark vision of what six-string transmutations should be. colin bradley
(with some help from julian coope) belongs to a caste of sonic-creators
who forge irresistably bleak soundworlds. Warmly buzzing guitar-spawned
fluids swirl around blicks, spiked with gritty occurences and semi-rhythmic
pulsations, some of which growl like a distantly raging locomotive.
Those enigmatic atmospheres flow into the quieter regions of chpst:k
(4:30); an isolationist's dream, these faint waves of feedback billow
and sometimes squawl obliquely across a panoramic-though-sparesely-populated
soundscene of indefinable activities. Those hushed sonic molecules
become spydel (10:39), a mutedly thrumming zone which abruptly cuts
off, leaving only the most minute traces. Eventually a cyclic pattern
emerges, like a tiny metallic jackhammer, which is swept into...the
ringing gasclouds of wirm, which rises, falls, expands and contracts,
combining roughness and smoothness like a sand-carrying wind. Seemingly
alive with organic lifeforms of alien nature, crain develops a bit
of bass and beat to propel its amorphous evolution. Screeching gleams
fade into isochemic, though this closing piece shifts to a flat expanse
of foggy resonance which dissolves slowly into nothingness. The ambient
soundscapes of dual hover in a slightly-rough neverworld awash in
the grey movements of vast guitarnoisedrones and decorated with other
unexpectations. I found the desolate realms of caste to be a most
enjoyable visitation...
