The city of Sparta was once one of the biggest military states within
Greece, and the most famous of the Spartan kings was Leonidas. Peter
Savelkoul aka A Challenge of Honour has re-arranged lost material
from his archive and created an epic soundtrack in honor of King Leonidas,
the ruler of Sparta. For this album, he has once more returned to
the sound of his legendary "Seven Samurai" recordings to
try to get the right atmosphere for this journey into ancient history.

MEI-JYU is an ethereal-ritual-ambient collaboration between Italian
sound manipulator Stefano Musso (aka Alio Die) and the Japanese duo
Chako and Makoto Hattori (Jack or Jive). On MEI-JYU, introspective
ambient music by Musso joins with Chako’s ethereal-otherwordly
vocals. Opening parallel dimensions and suppoting the dreamy quality
of Chako’s voice, the music is derived from acoustic zither sounds,
improvisations done on the waters of a brook, and environmental sounds
of bells or radio. The atmospheres of the tracks vary, but the glowing
quality between sounds and voice is decidedly original here. Growing
up from the dark ambient sounds and loops, the music flows harmoniously.

(Hyperium Records!) artist Mynox Layh. With 'Requiem', Andrea returns
with a genuinely unusual sinister work of morbid atmospheres, an absolutely
must have release. Requiem has a strongly obscure ambience, but cannot
be compared to any ambient music, and it's surely an album to refer
to endlessly with each listen giving something new to gain, disorienting
as though wakening from a nightmare. Immense, striding, sumptuous
string arrangements create a majestic and inspiring atmosphere. Andreas
Resch is working in some potentially interesting areas of sound experimentation
and this is a totally worthwhile and highly recommended opera. There
are no other words which could possibly describe the endless feeling
of the album. Definitely recommended. In vein of In The Nursery and

The album is a musical journey through Past & Dream, through Monuments
of Archetypes, through routine everyday surroundings & non-existing
Towns. The music drags you into the illusory world of subtle shadows,
vague images and fragmentary reminiscences of the lives long gone:
This album is mostly influenced by Saint-Petersburg, this sleepy ghost-town
called Nord Venezia, mysterious, desolated and wrecking. It combines
the unique surreal atmosphere of that illusory half-existence with
excellent tragic piano melodies and melancholic acoustic guitar chords.
Among the musical influences of Anthesteria one could name early Raison
D'Etre, some melodic works of LJDLP, 80-es Legendary Pink Dots and
Tuxedomoon's famous "Ghost Sonata", but the overall mood
of the album is much more post-industrial, gloomy and desperate. The
big full-colour booklet contains various images of Saint-Petersburg
ruins and places that perfectly fits the music and emphasizes the
impression. CD contains a multimedia part with another track which
serves as a background to the images from the booklet, it is arranged
as a very nice old photo-album. The release comes in a deluxe full

Anthology of rare and previously unreleased tracks by Arcane Device,
recorded in the past 20 years. It is divided into two parts. The first
one consists of tracks from compilations issued by Subterranean Records,
Tragic Figures, SFCR Tapes, and Generations Unlimited, but also unreleased
material remastered and/or remixed in 2007. The second one is subtitled
as "Feedback symphony" and based on various recordings,
presented in four movements and finished in 2007. One more chance
to approve the exceptional skills and compositional/technical talent
of David Myers who can control the electrons by will, creating fantastic
soundscapes. Limited edition of 500 copies in jewelcase. Arcane Device
is the unique project of american graphic designer and musician David
Myers, active between 1987 and 1995. His creative output is going
beyond any categorization, because it’s possible to re-arrange
and demonstrate such many styles of modern music with only one thing
that is feedback. This effect usually happens when you shortcut the
input and output of any electric device. It’s hard to believe
but this almost uncontrolable beast became the driving force for Arcane
Device music, armed by self-made bank of delays and filters. Looking
like inward sound research, decorated with finest web of random processes
and microvariations, it becames the peculiar feature. Endless circulation
of electrons, never repeating routes and always having some chance
for individual life inside of any macrostructure.

"The original idea was to use only a harmonica
and call the album Harmonica. But it was a bit more so, and with the
idea of krautrock in their mind they called the album 'Irrlicht',
in reference to Herr Schulze. The starting point was still harmonica,
but in addition to that Aun plays guitar, electronics and Allseits
guitar, voice, electronics. Aun is Montreal based Martin Dumais, who
already released work on Oral before. This is his first album in a
series of collaborations Behind Allseits is one Nina Kernicke, from
Bremen (Germany). Their concerts seem to be loud but the work at hand
here is rather subdued and drone based, occasionally bursting out
into more heavy ground. The Klaus Schulze references are never far
away, even when Aun and Allseits stay in a much more abstract ground.
The cosmos is not the blue sky, but the infinite and dark space that
lies much further away. Spacious (oops there we go again) dark atmospheric
music along the lines of Thomas Koner and more over Troum (with whom
Allseits something collaborates). A dark sun, underwhich its hard
to re-invent the tones, but where Aun and Allseits do a damn fine
